About Solar Oregon

MISSION: Leading the way to a clean energy future where human prosperity is achieved through efficient technology and renewable energy.

VISION: Incorporate solar design as a standard in the built environment to lead the nation with a clean energy economy.

VALUES: Community, optimism, leadership, passion, results, equity, distributed and scalable solutions.

We lead tours, deliver workshops, coordinate solarize campaigns, advocate for pro-solar policies to help homeowners and communities navigate and accelerate the development of solar energy in Oregon. Making the transition to renewable energy is no small task. Recognizing that homeowners, business, local governments, community groups, and nonprofit organizations all play a major role in reducing our energy footprint, Solar Oregon reaches out to and partners with these communities to lead the way to a clean energy future. Together, we are building a body of people, knowledge, and success that benefits all Oregonians.

Founded in 1979, Solar Oregon is a member-based nonprofit that grew from grassroots efforts to support clean and renewable energy. These community-based groups shared their knowledge and galvanized their communities to overcome the barriers to going solar, and we are continuing this work today. Solar Oregon has encouraged solar and storage adoption throughout Oregon for over 43 years by demonstrating the power of solar energy, offering workshops, leading tours, advocating for pro-solar policies, and helping thousands of people navigate the installation process.

Our goals are to encourage and demonstrate the successful use of photovoltaic (PV) and related solar technologies, provide information and education about solar energy and home energy storage, help remove institutional barriers to solar energy use, and serve as a connector for solar communities. Whether you are new to solar, have some experience, or are a solar enthusiast, join us at an event to connect, learn, share, and grow your solar knowledge.

Education is a cornerstone of what we do at Solar Oregon. We provide reliable and impartial consumer education, work to build the clean energy community, and perform outreach. Solar Oregon has been teaching the basics of solar for over 15 years, and we currently host a How to Go Solar + Storage webinar each month. We also host solarize campaigns, solar tours, zero energy showcases, and expert panel discussions on a range of topics related to solar.
